The University of Ljubljana is the central and largest educational and research institution in Slovenia. It is renowned for its quality social and natural sciences and technical study programmes. The Faculty of Education at the University of Ljubljana educates and trains teachers and other education professionals—from preschool and primary teachers to two‐subject teachers in primary and secondary schools—enhancing their employability and meeting school‐practice needs. As Slovenia’s biggest institution offering specialist programmes in inclusive education and the education of children and youth with special needs, it provides social pedagogy and special and rehabilitation pedagogy courses that address behavioural and social difficulties, sensory and physical impairments, and learning challenges. The Faculty offers seven first-cycle (BA/BSc) and twelve second-cycle (MA/MSc) study programmes and, since 2009/10, a doctoral programme in Teacher Education and Educational Sciences divided into its two scientific foci. It also organises continuing professional and adult education and has recently strengthened its scientific-research and artistic activities, with faculty participating in national and international symposia and collaborative research projects across educational, natural, social sciences, and the humanities. Committed to pedagogical excellence, the Faculty aims to be a leading international centre for teacher education, delivering high-quality research and teaching and actively engaging in contemporary educational debates to inform and innovate practice.
